That Seducible Moment.

“Seductive Design for Web Sites” is an article by UIE that talks about how impossible it is to design a web site that successfully supports information retreival and browsing. Promotional versus Informational.

Users have a goal. Don’t try and sidetrack them. Particularly on the front page. Users won’t be deterred until they’ve accomplished some or all of their goal.

Example. Amazon. They have ‘lures’ near the top of the page. But not before the summary of the book. (the goal).

It’s a great, great great article. Go read it.
