Boxes and Arrows has started a 12 part series on Interaction Design. The first part, Introducing Interaction Design, by Bob Baxley is a true introduction piece. It talks about the differences between IA and ID.
The core of this first article is really to define ID, and how it differs from IA. Interaction Design focuses on the following:
1. Human/machine communication
2. Action/Reaction
3. State
4. Workflow
5. Malfunction
My favorite part of Interaction Design is the communication. But that’s the designer in me talking. It looks like this should be a kickass series.
