Resume Mistakes

The Top Ten Resume Mistakes are fairly straightforward.

1. Absolute loyal, die-hard adherence to the myth that an effective résumé is always limited to one page.
2. Use of the passive voice as evidenced by use of phrases such as “Responsible for…”, “Duties included…”, etc.
3. Use of first person and possessive pronouns.
4. Errors.
5. Use of a template or “résumé wizard”.
6. Lack of information.
7. Use of the wrong format for the job seeker’s individual situation. (chronological, functional, comibnation formats)
8. Lack of focus.
9. Irrelevant information.
10. Concentration on job duties rather than on accomplishments/achievements.

I suggest that a hard-to-read resume is the worst, one where headings look like the rest of the text, font-wise.
