The intent of using a centralized metadata repository as the basis of navigation for a website is to separate business concepts from the content or functionality about those concepts.?Key ideas and concepts: * Metadata-based websites are not based upon CMS(Content Management Systems) sites. CMS(Content Management Systems) are traditionally based upon business-centric and presentational-specific metadata. * Centralize the core concepts in a taxonomy. A good technique for this is the "Delphi Process":http://www.rararibids.org.uk/documents/bid79-delphi.htm * Develop core relationship types between those core concepts. * Associate content to the concepts * Use the "Ontology's":http://protege.stanford.edu/publications/ontology_development/ontology101-noy-mcguinness.html concepts and relationships for navigation These concepts allow for zero degrees of separation between the core business concepts and the representation on the web.
