Visual Simplicity can harm the user.

In the latest article from GUUUI there is a very interesting article about how visual simplicity can harm usability. Now at first glance I'm thinking “No Way!”, simply because it's been hammered into my head that “Less is More” and “No matter how good your interface is, it would be better with less of it”. But there are some good thoughts in this article. Basically it boils down to finding a nice balance between visual and structural complexity. Don't sacrifice your content to make the site more visually compelling. Don't hide content to ease up on white space. And don't assume you know what your users want! They will ALWAYS surprise you. A good article. Thanks to Digital Media Minute for the find.
