The brilliance of Tufte

Edward Tufte has a couple of pages from his upcoming book (Beautiful Evidence) posted. The subject of these pages is Sparklines: Intense, Simple, Word-Sized Graphics. Sparklines isn't a brand-new concept from Tufte, I've heard him mention this and give examples of this for a couple of years in his presentations. But the concept is brilliant. I find the samples on page one to be particularly excellent. The end result is you get a sense of history, scale, quality and importance in a very small area. I just can't wait until I get my hands on this book.
