I hate comment-spammers. I got hit yesterday by a glut of them. I think close to a 100 comments in about 30 minutes. You rat-bastards. I really hope you get an awful disease.
Anyways, this glut of comment-spam caused my server to go to 100% CPU/Memory. So my hosting service shut down PERL.
So it was, in effect, a DoS attack.
So, rather than implement something slick to prevent it, I've just removed comments. Not disabled, but removed them. It was quicker this way.
I mean, it was getting to the point where I was getting more spam than real comments. I appreciate the real comments. But let's be honest. I'm not even close to an "A-List" blogger.
Also I'm ready to re-design this site. I've had version 7 (current version) for a while. Two years I think. So it's time for it to go. I'm probably going to go the route of stopdesign and just yank everything. That should force me to start on the redesign. Otherwise I don't know if I ever would get off my ass to start reworking the site.
So if you do have a comment, email me directly (link on the side there) and I can manually add the comment. Or not.
Hopefully this won't last. And to the comment-spammers? Fuck you and die already.
