A new camera has been invented by Clifford Ross. The R1 produces monster-sized photos, with prints going up to 5'x10'. And that's only because they can get paper up to that size. When his 9"x18" negatives are scanned, they create a 2.6 gig file. That's pretty large.
I'd so love so see an example of his work. This is a great example of art driving science.
