Why You Need Coding Standards is a pretty decent article on why coding standards are a Good Thing. Seriously, who doesn’t want maintainable code that is easy to read?
But his one statement at the end made me pause. He developed his own standards. If he developed them himself, they’re not really standards are they? But that’s neither here nor there. The ideas put forth in the article are good. The links to the PEAR Manual and the phpBB are interesting resources to look into sample styles.
