Rick Poynor argues in this article from the Guardian that fine art is going by the wayside, and that design is the core of our visual culture now.
Very interesting take, but yet one that makes sense. In our media-saturated world, design is more and more in our faces all day. So it would make sense that good design would become the latest art form.
Books, magazines, record covers, road signs, posters, logos, film credits, TV graphics, packaging, postage stamps, instruction manuals, websites, the page you are reading now - the unseen hand of the graphic designer touches and moulds every area of our lives.
