Cycleball

Cycleball looks crazy. Crazy-fun. Cross soccer and cycling (and a little bit of rugby I hope), and you have this hot new sport.

Seriously though, I really wish I could read this site. Or any of these sites on CycleBall. Anybody know about this?

I played as a kid living in Germany. Some of the most fun I've ever had. The bikes are fixed-gears with a 1x1 ratio. This makes it really easy to stop, stand, etc. You "kick" the ball by twisting the front wheel. You generally play indoors, 2 on 2, but you can also play on larger teams outdoors. If you touch a foot to the ground, you have to return to your goal line. Only the player within the goal crease can touch the ball with his hands. Amazingly enough, it is always "his" hands, never hers. Women played bike polo instead, which involved the same bikes, but with the handlebars turned around. Painfully boring to watch. I'm not aware of anyone in the U.S. who plays cycleball (Radball, auf Deutsch). The only other American I knew who played was an American citizen who had been raised in Germany.

I'm so jealous. I'd love to try this.

What made the Bike Polo so boring to watch, with only the handlebars turned. Did that make a big difference?
