New Type of Input?

This is unusual. Interesting though. Wolfgang Bartelme found that Safari supports an input type of search. This is the search field you get in the top right of the browser. This also has been around for a little bit, since Safari 1.3.

I like the fact you get access to this special functionality, and that it expands the forms of HTML. I hope WhatWG is aware of this. They should be. This is right up their alley. Don’t know how it degrades across browsers though.
