29digital has a neat idea that they’ve written up. It’s about using Javascript to re-div your page for a smart show-hide effect.
The idea is this. Say you have a long article. (NOTE: This will probably NEVER apply to me, as I think history has more than shown I’m unable to write long articles of any worth.) Now say you want to present a shorter version of the article to make it a little easier, tease the users in.
Rather than manually code in your div’s to create your division for the show/hide effects, wouldn’t it be nice to have something that was smart? That could generate those tags on it’s own?
That’s what they have done. It’s nice. It’s smart. And it’s pretty unobtrusive. Be sure to check out the demo.

NOW I have a question.
This demo was actually pretty cool.
But is it useful and will it get used?
With heavy trafic and a valued site I can see where it would but not sure if it is for everyone. Seems like a good excuse for (some%) of users to hit a back button.
The other thing I was curious about.
Will a major search engine give as much 'weight' or priority to a Anchor type link as it the SE wil to the regular url Link tags?
Won't the SE read the first section and bail? Will it reload the page at the Anchor link?

Brief Introduction about me. I am Dan. I have been liberated from owning a e-commerce er.. slut.skum. er store that in the end failed - for the last 6 years. GUG! I got stuck in the e-commerce muck. Uck! Sucks! Had to get that out, and thank you.
So I just want to say hi. Thank you for the content, I am looking forward to contributing my own labs soon. I feel so joyful I am doing web-dev again as my only focus this-time for the rest of my working career too. SAY NO TO SHOPS. They worked for the moms and pops before
all the corp monsters err.. big players loaded up.
I am Back! Really though, just in time too cause the last-gen browsers sucked so bad what else could a guy do but open a shop. hehe. So the timing is actually perfect. Looks like Web 2.0 .. Ajax.. etc is gonna be a really fun ride.
