Enterprise Risk Manager (ERM) UI Design
Product Site
At TruSecure Corporation the flagship product is the Enterprise Risk Manager. This web-based application is used by corporations to effectively and intelligently manage their security risk. We started a complete, ground-up, redesign of this application in 2000, and launched the new design in the Summer of 2001.
The look and feel of the ERM was determined early in the process to reflect the TruSecure site. “TruSecure PlusExtraTurbo” was the phrase that determined the direction of the UI “personality”. This whole process was a model example of how to properly go through a redesign. The phases we went through were as follows:
- Kickoff Meeting
- Requirements Gathering
- Clarification
- Requirements Buy-off
- Persona Creation
- Content Analysis
- Card Sorting
- Wireframing
- Labeling
- Wireframe buy-off
- Design mockups
- Prototyping
In the past six months, another redesign process has been initiated. The goals of presenting the user smaller, manageable views of their data in preset windows, we are now presenting more of a “data-mining” interface, allowing the user to slice-and-dice the data however they want to see, while providing more information in each presented screen.
The ERM home page was designed to provide a quick snapshot of the customer's security health, while allowing for quick dissemenation of information and easy access to navigational items.
An enterprise-wide view into the top tasks outstanding.
The charts provided with the ERM allow for complete data customization, allowing for a data-mining situation for the customer.
Any assets changed within the ERM could have various levels of impact. To prevent any issues in this regard, a clear verification of any changes needed to be presented to the user.
A clear differentiation between assets needed to be addressed based upon various criteria levels.
